Batch played in 2 games. After the Tommy debacles (Jacksonville and Baltiwhore), Batch started against Green Bay. He didn't jack, but he didn't lose us the game. I think it was the gameplan.
Then came Cleveland. In that game, he was allowed to pass, and did ok. Then, of course, he injured his hand. When it happened he stayed in, and skillfully finished the drive, included snapping it quick and calling his own number to sneak it, right before the 1st half ended. With what he showed in the Cleveland game, aside from his injury, Steeler fans will take him, especially compared to Batch.
Because of Cowher's insistence upon keeping too many vet QBs, we lost our development QB in BSP to the Felons. However, given Cowher's position about having the veteran backup, it was the wise move for BSP, because he knew he wouldn't be doing any better than 3rd string on our roster, with Ben here.
Back to the subject:
Let El go, some team will give him more money than we need to given other issues.
Bettis should retire. Duce will be kept. According to the roster on Steelers.com, Duce is not on IR.
Hartings should retire, or take a cut to stay.
Maddox gone. So we need another #3 QB.
Willie Williams, gone, we don't need him for depth.
KVH. Sign for 1 year cheap, but Keisel is in the wings as is Hoke. Not sure about Kirschke. Draft another DE/DT
Hope, gone, move someone else and draft a FS. Although he has actually broken up 2 passes in the playoffs and end of the season games. Deshea? His cover skills would exceed Hope's. Can Tyrone Carter cover anyone? Stuvaints isn't good enough to keep.
LB keep ours, develop Frazier and draft.
WR, draft again
Center, draft since the concensus is Chukky won't cut it.
OL, draft depth, let Kemoeatu fight for starting with Simmons.
RB, draft, since we lost Noah Herron

Cowher was driving very conservatively, and it was easy to predict how he was planning on getting to the stadium.
It seemed as if he was driving not to crash and relying on his tires to pound their way down the asphalt about 3 yards at a time.
