Let's just go ahead and call the Florida Gators defense the exposers of poser SEC QBs.
Eric Ainge, Tennessee
Pre-Swamp: A surgical 35 of 47 for a ridiculous 624 yards, 7 TD, 2 INT and 0 sacks.
In the Swamp: A paltry 17 of 32 for just 183 yards, 0 TD, 2 INT and 4 sacks.
JeMarcus Russell, LSU
Pre-Swamp: A scorching 81 of 115 for an impressive 1246 yards, 10 TD, 1 INT and 2 sacks.
In the Swamp: An inflated 24 of 42 for only 225, 1 early TD, 3 costly INT and 1 sack.
Yes, Russell has a huge arm, great size and a flare for the dramatic, but he's terribly inaccurate and his lack of mobility and poise cost him against even remote pressure. All in all I think he's little more than a lot of potential right now and I don't think potential gets you picked in the first round. I'd be looking at Quinn and Smith long before I even think of Russell. At this point, I'd personally take Brohm and Stanton over him in this upcoming draft. If he doesn't step up and perform in some big SEC games this year, he might even slip below a guy like Jordan Palmer and maybe even Drew Tate.
