BEARS IN BRIEF: Hillenmeyer's ankle not serious

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. -- The Bears survived an injury scare when linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer was carted off the practice field Wednesday afternoon with a sprained right ankle.
By early evening, he was walking in the dining hall with only an Ace bandage wrap and declared that he will be back soon. The starter on the strong side, Hillenmeyer went down when he stepped on a teammate's foot and almost certainly will miss Saturday's exhibition opener at Houston (7 p.m., Ch, 5, 780-AM).
The starters won't play a lot as it is, but Hillenmeyer's absence will open the door further for an examination of who will emerge as the fourth linebacker.
