The Enquirer - Filling RB spot tops Bengals' to-do list
excerpt:
GEORGETOWN, Ky. - The Bengals have one of four preseason games under their belts and are heading toward the close of training camp Wednesday and Game 2 Saturday night.
Three major storylines unfolded the past week:
With rookie tailback Kenny Irons lost for the season with an ACL tear, the Bengals will take extended looks at Kenny Watson, Quincy Wilson and Curtis Brown in the remaining preseason games. Wilson has the best opportunity to get a bigger role in the offense.
The play of the backup quarterbacks has been underwhelming, so Carson Palmer had better remain healthy. Still, some credit goes to rookie Jeff Rowe for keeping his cool at the end of Thursday's game at Detroit.
The team's three rookie defensive backs - cornerback Leon Hall and safeties Marvin White and Chinedum Ndukwe - should become fine NFL players, but they are young and learning. Too much should not be expected too soon from the trio; there will be growing pains.
