It's true that nobody really considered Vince Young worthy of the 1st pick at the time, and I would also personally take Williams over Bush, because what the Texans need is an everydown back, and I don't think that's Reggie Bush. Was it a mistake not to take Vince Young? Maybe, but you can't say he was ever in that mix really. It was between Bush and Williams.
I still think Williams will be good, but as a DE, he'll have to be the next Reggie White for anyone to say he wasn't a bust, and that's not going to happen.

not true. many people thought young was deserving of the #1 pick, but since the texans already had carr, they all expected them to take bush. if there had been a team in need of a QB, VY would have been the one everybody would have talked about. and furthermore, he WAS in the mix of what people wanted, there were plenty of rumors that they'd take the hometown hero, even if they were unfounded, but it would have been a legitimate pick. typically when a new HC joins a struggling franchise he pins his hopes on a brand-new franchise QB with his first pick.
and especially now, when a year later they dump carr anyway, it looks like it was retarded to pass on him. that's the nature of first overall picks. you can literally take ANYONE, and with that power, people will continue to analyze your selection and compare it to everyone in the draft for the rest of their careers.
