If anything signing Trotter was insurance... Ruud has been awesome in the middle but we really didn't have anyone behind him and when the Bucs use the 3-4 which should happen quite a bit this year Trotter can be the other ILB along with Ruud and then June and Brooks playing outside.
Kiffin has liked the 3-4 but the only issue with it has been stopping the run up the middle and Trotter does it as well as anyone in the business...
Winborn was let go because he can't play SAM. Everyone knows that when Brooks retires (hopefully after this season) his job belongs to June...
