Is Houston a playoff team? Its far too early to say especially when you gauge the two teams they have played against so far.
-Kansas City is no where close to being a good team at this time.
-Carolina is a pretty good team though, even if Jake Delhomme is somewhat inconsistent.
Can the Texans beat the Colts like they did last season? Its definitely possible, as Matt Schaub has proved to be light years ahead of where David Carr was prior to being released by the team. So long as Ahman Green remains healthy, this may be the best rushing game Houston has had since the rookie year of Domanick Davis. Owen Daniels? This guy is quietly becoming a great target for whoever lines up at QB. Except for the fumble in week 2, he made some pretty nice catches. Andre Johnson? I don't think I even need to talk about this guy.
Defensively, the team has been pretty damn good against both the Chiefs and Panthers. Take away that inhuman effort by Steve Smith on his third TD run and that defense looks that much better. Alot of the younger guys on defense are starting to step up and make plays.
With this said, the team still has some big question marks that might be exploited the longer that the season goes on. The safeties really don't impress me, Faggins is still a bit hit or miss when it comes to coverage and the Texans need to get more out of Mario Williams. Offensively, can the team perform with Andre Johnson sitting on the bench? Of Matt Schaub's 36 completions (out of 50 attempts) this season..
Andre Johnson (WR): 14
Owen Daniels (TE): 6
Vonta Leach (FB): 6
Ahman Green (RB): 4
Jacoby Jones (WR): 2
Kevin Walters (WR): 2
Ron Dayne/Jeb Putzier (RB/TE): 1
Someone else needs to step up opposite Andre Johnson.
