Default Watson runs over Jets

Kenny Watson, starting his third consecutive game, ran for three touchdowns and a career high 130 yards, leading a resurrected rushing offense and the Bengals to a 38-31 victory today against the New York Jets.

The Bengals snapped a four-game losing streak and improved to 2-4, keeping their playoff hopes alive heading into a home game Sunday against division-leading Pittsburgh at Paul Brown Stadium.

On the go-ahead touchdown drive that spanned the third and fourth quarters, Watson ran 10 times for 55 yards. He scored on a one-yard run.

The Bengals rushed for 177 yards as a team, bettering the team high of 137 against Cleveland by 40 yards.

The Bengals, trailing 23-10 after a Jets field goal on the first possession of the second half, scored touchdowns on each of their next three drives – two by Watson, starting in place of the injured Rudi Johnson.

The Bengals' defense, which allowed scores on the first five Jets possessions, forced a punt on the sixth, recovered a botched shotgun snap on the seventh and forced another punt on the eighth.
