Default Niners to interview Martz tomorrow

The Niners are scheduled to interview Mike Martz for the vacant offensive coordinator position tomorrow.

Martz was fired last week as offensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions. Martz was coordinator for two seasons. The Lions ranked 19th in the league in total offense, but were ninth in the league in passing yards per game.

Martz is best known for his time with the Rams, when he was the architect of the "Greatest Show on Turf." He was offensive coordinator when the Rams won the Super Bowl. He was head coach for six seasons, compiling a 53-32 record (.624). Martz took the Rams to Super Bowl XXXVI, and there were upset losers to the upstart New England Patriots.

Martz is the second person with whom coach Mike Nolan will interview. He has already interviewed Chan Gailey for the position. Martz and Nolan are both represented by agent Bob LaMont.

The 49ers are also expected to interview former Dolphins head coach and Chargers coordinator Cam Cameron this week.
