Steelers consider turf changes

Team chairman Dan Rooney said the Steelers will spend next week seeking input about the playing surface at Heinz Field as the organization decides whether to switch from real grass to some form of artificial turf.
Rooney said management will talk to team trainers about whether they think field conditions at Heinz played a factor in any injuries this season as part of the information-gathering process.
"By no means is it settled what we're going to do," Rooney said.
The Steelers' players have said they prefer playing on grass in part because of the home-field advantage it gives them. The playing surface is not popular among opposing NFL players, and Jacksonville running back Fred Taylor ripped it before the Jaguars-Steelers playoff game last week.
