The Winning Submission
2008 NFL MOCK DRAFT
1 Miami Dolphins - Jake Long OT Michigan
2 St. Louis Rams - Chris Long DE Virginia
3 Atlanta Falcons - Glenn Dorsey DT LSU
4 Oakland Raiders - Vernon Gholston DE OSU
5 Kansas City Chiefs - Ryan Claddy OT Boise St (May elect to trade down to get Otah and picks)
6 New York Jets - Darren McFadden RB Arkansas
7 New England Patriots - Derrick Harvey DE Florida
8 Baltimore Ravens - Matt Ryan QB Boston College
9 Cincinnati Bengals - Sedrick Ellis DT USC
10 New Orleans - Keith Rivers LB USC (Really needed Sedrick Ellis to fall to them, but Cinci needs a DT too. So N.O. may trade up with KC or Bal).
11 Buffalo Bills - Delvin Thomas WR Michigan St (Bills want out of this spot. Very willing to trade down and grab WR at Pick 15-22)
12 Denver Broncos - Jeff Otah OT Pittsburgh
13 Carolina Panthers - Chris Williams OT Vandy (Long look at Mendenhall)
14 Chicago Bears - Rashard Mendehall RB Illinois (Tired of waiting on Benson)
15 Detroit Lions - Jonathan Stewart RB Oregon State
16 Arizona Cardinals - Dominic Rodgers-Cromartie CB Tennessee St. (A steal if the first CB drops this far, and very possible!)
17 Kansas City - Leodis McKelvin CB Troy. If they take Merling as I had slated for Minnesota, draft stays status quo.
18 Houston Texans - Brandon Albert OT/G Virginia
19 Philadelphia Eagles - Limas Sweed WR Texas (Hoping to address the O-Line, with Albert gone, no choice but to land that WR they need. Cherilus is a possibility a OT)
20 Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Mike Jenkins CB S.Fl
21 Washington Redskins - Phillip Merling DE
SCRATCH KC/MIN Calasis Campbell DE Miami (Fl)
22 Dallas Cowboys - Aquib Talib CB Kansas St.
SCRATCH KC/MINMike Jenkins CB S.Florida (Cowboys can play with this pick or #28. They go with a need here as CBs are starting to go.)
23 Pittsburgh Steelers - Gosder Cherilus OT Boston College
24 Tennessee Titans - Deshaun Jackson WR Cal (Tennesse would be wise to trade down. They NEED a WR for Young, they also need DE or DT but are forced to take Jackson. I think they wanted a bigger WR, but settle for a playmaker.)
25 Seattle Seahawks - Felix Jones RB Arkansas (Nice hands and good in open field makes perfect fit.)
26 Jacksonville Jaguars - Reggie Smith Oklahoma S (Reggie Nelson last year and Smith this year. I originally had Phillips which may be right, but the fact they have Nelson and Smith can play both CB and S means both can be on the field in all situations.)
27 San Diego Chargers - Kenny Phillips S Miami (Fl) (You can flip flop 26 and 27. However, without a 2nd or 3rd Rd Pick, they need to get one of these top Safeties).
28 Dallas Cowboys - Chris Johnson RB East Carolina (Looking back at my draft, the Boys could have taken Felix Jones away from Seattle at 22 and addressed CB here. But no guarantee Mike Jenkins would be available here. Chris Johnson is comparable to Jones and could be the new JJ to Barber. This is a pick to play with and could go Best player left on their Board. I just can't justify taking a WR this year here with what they have.)
29 San Francisco 49ers - Sam Baker OT USC
30 Green Bay Packers - Antoine Cason CB - With them losing out on Talib now, Trade Down is imminent.
SCRATCH KC/MINAquib Talib CB Kansas St (As a Packer Fan: Don't be surprised with a trade down. However, with Talib and Cason still available, they'll stand pat. Sam Baker would have been a possibility. But the CB depth is not there in GB. Talib was projected here months ago and moved out of reach a bit ago. However, with teams ahead of them needing other positions, he falls to them. If Philips, Smith, Jenkins, or maybe Cason are available, they draft DB.)
31 New York Giants - Calais Campbell DE
SCRATCH MIN/KC Antoine Cason. If GB gets out of 30 and Cason is available, I say Cason is chosen here. Just throwing in a DE with Strahan's future in doubt.
DAMN YOU KC/MIN FOR SCREWING MY DRAFT UP!!!!!!! KC should take Gholston 1st now and OT at 17.
