Default Carr

I'll begin this thread by stating the obvious: the Texans suck. Most of us know that, but i'll reiterate it anyway. Watching David Carr play though, you have to know he's not the reason for them sucking at all.

In a typical down, they teach QBs that they have 7 seconds to pass, handoff or run the ball. 7 seconds is of course the average. Brady and Roethlisberger seem to have close to 12, and Manning and Hasselbeck (meaning Matt and Peyton, not their respective little brothers in New York) have at least ten. So why 7? in a Houston game this year, you see the reason 7 is the average. On the other end of the spectrum, poor Carr has only about 3 seconds to make his plays. 3 seconds. Can anyone think that fast? It's amazing. In those three seconds, he gets sacked a lot. Who wouldn't? When he doesn't get sacked though, he makes pretty decent passes, runs short 1st downs as often as anyone, or gives to the decent RB, and then goes to run block for himself, knowing the offensive line sucks. Here's a guy that gets beat down every game he plays, it's amazing alone he hasn't got injured. Then he also puts himself directly in the way of further harm by running and blocking. To me, that makes him one of the ten best (and easily the most underrated) QBs in the NFL.

Imagine, now that he's used to three seconds, what he could do with 7. He could be a Superbowl caliber QB very easily if he were on a team worthy of his talents.
