ACC Breakout Players
I see a lot of sites predicting big years from guys listed 2-3 deep on the depth charts, so I will try to limit this to starters.
QB
Drew Weatherford- Had a decent year last year but threw way too many picks and had terrible managemnet of the offense, this year he looks set to explode.
Matt Ryan- He was on the bench last year behind a senior, but when he got time he looked great. This year as a junior, he will lead this team possibly even to the ACC title.
Ben Mauk- Highly touted in high school, he looked great when he played, but even in limited time he has been dangerous. In his first play he had an 80 yard TD, look for more of this.
RB
Antone Smith- He will split carries with Booker, but he seems to be even more dangerous than Booker. He will probably also return kicks now that O'Neal is off the team.
Andre Brown- Big time runner when he has got PT, he looks to be a feature back and that could be bad for ACC defenses.
WR
Darnell Jenkins- He was behind Hester as a KR, and Moore/Leggett at receiver, he is said to be the most dangerous player on Miami's team. He is a threat to take it all the way every time he touches a ball. Look for him to be big as a KR/WR.
Aaron Kelly- Starting as a sophmore, and very big. He will be the red zone threat and a touchdown machine.
More to come later.

Outside of Antone, I'd put in Lawrence Timmons, Myron Rolle, and Greg Carr.

I was going to do defense later. I agree completely on all of those, but Greg Carr will be the #2 or 3 guy in most situations behind Davis and Fagg.

I see Kenny Phillips being a breakout player.

Kenny Phillips broke out last year. He was widely considered the best defensive freshman in the country last year, I expect him to have another good year.

Here is my defensive list.
DE
Gaines Adams- I know he had a good year last year, but this should be a first round pick kind of year. He is considered the top DE in the country by most publications, and this year should show it.
Alex Boston- After sitting and backing up all last year, he is poised for a big year. Excellent in the pass rush, and solid vs. the run.
Darryl Pata- Played well last year, but never had the big time performance. This year with Atkins expected to move back outside, no longer will Pata see double teams, so this year could be big for him.
DT
Andre Fluellen- FSU DT, not much more to say.
Dre Moore- He is locked in a battle at Maryland to be the number one DT, but if he wins it, expect big things. He is a beast in the middle and will most likely demand a double team on every play.
LB
Laurence Timmons- Sat most of last year behind Ernie, but when he got shots, he was dominant.
Jon Beason- Backed up last year, but when you are a starting LB at Miami, you have some talent. This guy looks to be the best LB on the team.
Brian Toal- Not only will he be a monster at LB, he could be the best short yardage back in the country.
DB
Myron Rolle- Best freshman in the country, expected to start and make an impact right away.
John Talley- Although he plays for Duke, which is a big reason most people haven't heard of him, Talley is a top 5 CB in the nation. He should be a rare bright spot for Duke's defense.
Brandon Merriweather- Not just the other guy in Miami's secondary he is a star in his own right. Phillips gets the majority of the noteriaty in magazines and publications, but a lot of the plays that went his way were because teams were afraid to throw Merriweather's way.

I love Kenny and Darnell. Miami will have pretty good recievers next year; Ryan Moore, Darnell Jenkins, and Lance Leggett. Would Tyrone Moss be considered to be a possible break out player next year?

I think the 12 TDs he got last year was a breakout year.

I am still upset that Kenny Phillips snubbed Tennessee on signing day.
