Players want Xavier Lee to start...
Geez....this has got to make Drew feel good walking into practice. However, I agree. The offense looked much, much better with the X-Man in there.

With the offense struggling this season, it was a breath of fresh air to see Xavier Lee spark the offense Saturday night at Maryland. Several FSU players includind Drew Weatherford chime in on Lee's peformance and potential.
Buster Davis
Whether he was surprised at Lee's breakout performance in his first start?
"I knew it. I said when he gets that chance and he feels comfortable. It's different coming in third quarter, coming in fourth quarter it's different. When you get that start and you are running the show from the first play until the last play, that's when that confidence kicks in."
On how he knew Lee would be successful when he got his shot:
"He was special in high school and barely ever played in the fourth quarter because he was so good. And he had no receivers and they were about this tall (short). You saw that his accuracy was very good last night. He was just hitting guys on the run and created options we haven't had here in a while with his feet. He would roll out of the pocket, look and then buy some more time. The last time somebody could really buy some time like that and run the ball was Charlie Ward. To do what he did last night was almost in a sense it looked like Charlie Ward. He's a bigger model of Charlie Ward."
You went through a tough time early in your career and Lee had to go through an injury and watch from the bench while the offense struggled.
"I've been through it and the great ones go through it. My thing is that had they given it to him, it's like if they give you anything you won't take full advantage of it. You'll be like 'okay, well it's mine.' But when you have to work, work and then work some more you've got to take it and full throttle."
How is Lee's attitude and work ethic compared to last year?
"You've seen a total change in his attitude. I thought sometimes last year he might of thought he wasn't going to get a chance. He got his chance, and he put on a show last night. He impressed a lot of people last night."
Antone Smith
On Lee's success on Saturday night:
"We were moving the ball a lot faster. When Xavier was in there there were times when he didn't see anything down the field so we was just running it. It was like a dual-threat both in the backfield and with the quarterback. The receivers were making plays, and they dropped a couple, we lost the game but the future is very good for us."
How was he in the huddle?
"His composure was there. He was very calm, I noticed that. He was very calm in the huddle. There were some times Drew did that but he just came in with a great composure. He was just like 'let's do this next play and if doesn't work let's go out and try the next play.' It all played out for the best."
He got most of the reps with in practice Wednesday and Thursday. Did he look as good as he did Saturday?
"He was looking good all week, just like last night. Every throw he threw was just perfect."
What does Lee do that makes him successful?
"Xavier's just a dual-threat guy kind of like a Vince Young or Michael Vick kind of guy. When he's rolling on the outside on the perimeter you don't know whether he's going to run it or throw it. That's the kind of guy that keeps people on their toes and that's a good thing. It takes a lot of pressure off the running backs."
Were you surprised at how well Lee played in his first start?
"Everybody thought he was going to make mistakes, throw interceptions or something crazy. But he didn't do that, he turned it all round. He kept his composure and just did what he does best like he did in high school."
Drew Weatherford
On his injury:
"I was not a 100 percent at all. Coach thought it was best to put Xavier Lee out there. Of course I wanted to play but at the same time I was not a 100 percent and I wasn't able to go."
When did you suffer the injury?
"It was on Wednesday at the beginning of practice. I had a real bad thigh bruise from the game before and I think part of the injury may have just been causing me to overcompensate and put more weight on my right leg and I literally was just jogging and turned and I tweaked something in my right ankle. There is a lot of inflammation and fluid in my ankle and it caused a lot of pain. It got better on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday but even tonight I could move around but not like I need to be able to in order to play at this level."
When will you return to practice?
"My ankle feels better as the days go on and hopefully I can get back out there and get better."
How did you think Lee played?
"I thought he did a great job. To be put into a hostile environment like this and to come out in some weather like this against a very good Maryland team and to play the way he played showed a lot about his character. All of his hard work paid off and I was proud of him."
Lawrence Timmons
How did you feel about Lee's play?
"I loved it. I hope they give him the spot. I think he deserves to be the starter after the game he played."
"I thought he did a great job and I think that was the best the offense has looked this year."
Chris Davis
What does Lee's presence give the offense?
"That is going to open up everything. More receivers, more touches for the running backs - he brings another dimension to the game."
Did you know he would come out and play this well?
"We knew he could do it in practices. He just came out here and showed it. Everybody got to see it on TV. That is a big guy that can move, has the arm, get caught sleeping and he might drop the shoulder on you. That is a different quarterback out there."
Jacky Claude
How was Lee in the huddle compared to when he came in during the Duke and Rice games?
"I noticed a difference between the Duke game and that game, he was more confident and more calm. Through the whole game, all night, he was smiling. In a third and long situation he wasn't nervous. I was just surprised really."

So do fans. I really think that they should at least let X. Lee start until he has a bad game or two, Weatherford has been looking bad, the team isn't going anywhere so try to get your most talented guys on the field.

I dont think either one is going to salvage the season or play that much better than the other. I do think that Lee should at least start though.

WTF is goin on here? i just get home from work and turn on the game and i see a 30-0 score in favor of Wake Forest? i think this is the final strike against the Bowden regime. this program has been in a downward spriral since Jeff Bowden became OC, and Bobby B. will not admit this. i see that FSU QBs have thrown 4 ints but a combination between bad coaching and poor execution have been the downfall of this once great program. what a shame

I would bet if Jeff isn't gone there is going to be a AD stepping in and firing him himself, but honestly why doesn't he just resign and save himslef and his dad from the constant onslaught?

Well Drew is back at #1. Is it just me, or does it seem like Lee is on a much shorter leash than Weatherford?
Yes, Xavier played awful on Saturday but Drew played every bit as bad. So what did he do to make him the starter again?

Forget all of these Bobby Bowden haters... He should have the right to resign when he wants... He is what made that program and without him you guys would not be crap... You should still be thanking him for what he has done for your program rather than chewing him out for having one bad season... Next year will be different for the Florida State Seminoles... They will be a good team like they usually are... I think that they have just lost all hope and that is the reason for all of these losses... Once they start back out with a clean slate and start winning then all of you people will be praising Bobby Bowden again... You two faced losers... That goes to everybody who is calling on Bobby Bowden to be fired...
