Head coach Ken Whisenhunt’s vision is simple. He wants to build a smart, tough, and disciplined football team that performs on a championship level. In order to achieve that goal, what’s necessary is a foundation-of camaraderie, teamwork, and character.
After weeks of offseason conditioning, mini camps, and Organized Team Activities (OTAs), the players’ near-perfect attendance at the workouts left no doubt they share that same vision.
The OTAs were officially completed on June 7, and a majority of the veterans will now be trusted to continue such conditioning work on their own.
But for the 24 rookies currently on the Cardinals roster, the next six weeks will be spent right here in Tempe.
“It’s more beneficial for rookies because they don’t know what to expect,” explained fifth-year wide out Bryant Johnson, who plans to take a trip to London before returning back to Arizona for workouts. “For veterans we’ve been around long enough and we know not to go home and just not work out. It is definitely good for rookies to be here and see what it takes to be ready for camp.”
