Edge...
Jun 29 Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports the Arizona Cardinals have big expectations for RB Edgerrin James in 2006. Arizona head coach Dennis Green recently said it would be possible for James to gain numbers that the team never has seen before. "We'd love to get 1,600 yards from him this year, shatter every record we've ever had," Green said.
What do you guys think?

Well let me tell you right now...if edge puts up 1600 yards. The Cardinals are in for a big year. That will make that offense unstopabble. Keep that bad defense off the field as long as possible.

This is quite a lofty goal for a team in which their biggest ? is thier oline. Lutui may be good, but prolly not right away. Denny is a guy that likes to hype up his players and that is cool, but 1200 is more likely a high for edge this year. If warner gets hurt and lienart is thrown into the fire, then there will certainly be a learning curve which will affect edge's numbers as well. Also, if they are losing games late again, edge will not get the carries necessary to achieve this goal, so I say it is hype right now, but there are a ton of factors that will affect the outcome.

i think Green might be expecting a little to much from James, but it's not like James hasn't done it before in his career.

Arizona needs to be a threat in the air in order for James to have the year that Green wants him too. That was the nice thing about the Colts, is that teams couldn't focus all their attention on James, and he'd mess them up. If Leinart or Warner and the reciever core has to be productive. Their schedule isn't too bad, so they should improve over their last record. As J-Unit stated, that defense still has some work to do and until it gets better Arizona can't be a division threat.

Nobody can focus on Edge in AZ either. Boldin and Fitz are top 10 NFL recievers. So Edge will get his. I don't think 1,600, but 1,450-1,500 is about right I think. Also, people need to remember AZ was the ONLY team last year to have a top 10 rated offense and defense. Alot of people question them because of the sole fact they are the Cards which is understandable. But they will be nasty this year.

Edge's performance, like all other RB's, depend on their O-line. Now, ARI was a decent O-line, but not as good as IND's. I except edge to clip 1,300.

the running lanes should be there because of the receivers, but if the line doesn't block it won't matter.

But they still dont need Edge to get 1600 yards even a 1000 would be a step in the right direction for the Cards.
