I think it's obvious they're trying to lose to lull the other teams into thinking they can just walk right over the 'skins. Then St. Gibbs and Genius Al bust out the whooping stick in the regular season and unveil their master plan of league domination. That coaching staff really is brilliant, can't believe no one else has figured out not to show too much of the playbook during preseason and take their starters out after a while. Those guys are pure genius.

That's a pretty hefty gamble. I hope these plays are working like butter in practice, because to go into the season with a playbook not tried or tested against real competition is risky.

its not as though Al Saunders is a new coordinator in the NFL. Teams that do their homework will have a good idea of whats coming. Sure, there's plays teams may have never seen before, but the NFL is more about executing the plays than keeping them secret...

not only were they not doing much with the offense, which was missing its best player, but besides that they also were simply not calling protections that would work. just like they did in the ravens scrimmage last season, they simply let the pressure through so the skill players would get used to working on broken plays. it just so happened that more broke than worked at all.

there's no reason to worry at all about the skins.

I like Cooley but there's a pretty steep drop off from Gonzalez to Cooley..
[/b]

Cooley had 71 rec for 771 yards and 7 TDs with 6 rec OVER 20 yards
Gonzo had 78 rec for 905 yards and 2 TDs with 9 rec OVER 20 yards (and 7 more years experience on)

Thats a "pretty STEEP" drop off -- Cooley cant stretch the field with only 6 catches over 20 vs Gonzo's 9

Not really, Your WR's better know how to run routes, Your QB knows his reads and the OL has has probably ran the blocking scheme a 1000 times over while running other plays.

Sure there is some risk. Typically that why you see sloppy 1st games and the most growth in a team between weeks 2 and 3 but teams have been doing it for years so what do we know.

It's a new system.

Your #2 and #3 WR are new to the team.

Your QB looks horrible in preseason.

Your workhorse tailback is questionable for week 1.

Nah. That is a big risk.
