Default Cardinals sign Rattay; Leinart OFS

Official Site of the Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals have a new backup quarterback. Their top quarterback, meanwhile, is done for the year.

Tim Rattay signed a one-year contract Tuesday, the same day the Cardinals placed Matt Leinart on injured reserve with his broken collarbone – a move that ends Leinart’s season.

Rattay was signed after a brief workout in front of coach Ken Whisenhunt, general manager Rod Graves and other offensive coaches. He’ll back up the new starter, Kurt Warner.

“I was in San Francisco when (Warner) was in St. Louis when they were really going,” Rattay said after his workout. “I have admired him from afar. Just to be around him and learn from him would be great.”

The Cards were also interested in looking at veteran Vinny Testaverde, but Testaverde removed himself from consideration Tuesday morning.

Signing Rattay wasn’t the Cards’ only move. The team also brought in veteran offensive lineman Keydrick Vincent and added a practice squad quarterback, Matt Baker.

Will Leinart be able to come back next year, or are you going to start Warner again? I feel Warner has more potential then Leinart.

Haven't heard anything on Leinart.

As far as I'm concerned, Leinart has been a bust, and is very injury-prone.

Very true, Leinart is very injury-prone and if that keeps up he will never have a starting job. Warner however has a lot of experience and that is why he is the obvious choice as the go to guy.

I like Warner, but he's "fumble happy." I'd much rather have Tim Rattay or Tim Hasselbeck as the starting QB, and Warner running the 2-minute offense. The "O" is so much better that way, and it throws defenses off.

May the Battle of the Two Tims begin! LOL!!!

Warner runs that two minute to perfection sometimes and there are other times when your like "You idiot why are you trying to thread the needle." However I will be at the game against the Falcons on the 23rd hopefully the falcons win but I doubt it.
