Cards, Warner’s agent at odds over bonuses
Mike Tulumello, Tribune
The agent for Kurt Warner would like the Cardinals to award a $500,000 bonus that Warner just missed statistically last season.
But it doesn’t look like he’s going to get it.
Warner’s contract called for him to get a series of $500,000 bonuses, up to $1.5 million. He had four categories to reach, and he made two of them, good for $1 million.
He just missed in the other two: finishing in the NFL’s top 10 in passing yards and finishing with a passer rating of 90.0 (he ended up at 89.9)
“We’re hoping to get it resolved,” Warner’s agent, Mark Bartelstein said.
But Cardinals general manager Rod Graves said he doesn’t want to set a precedent by awarding Warner the $500,000.
“We’re proud of everything that Kurt has accomplished. But we’re focused on abiding by the contract. There are other areas where we’re pressed into using our resources,” he said.
