Cards sign free agent tight end Byrd

The Arizona Republic is reporting the Cardinals signed free agent tight end Dominque Byrd to a one-year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Byrd (6 feet 3, 255 pounds) spent his first two NFL seasons with St. Louis after the Rams drafted the USC product in the third round (93rd overall selection) of the 2006 draft.
He was released by the Rams in 2008 and was out of football last season. He participated in the Cardinals minicamp this past weekend on a tryout.
