When draft arrives for the Falcons, there is going to be a long wait until they're on the clock. Having traded their first-round pick to the Jets for John Abraham, the Falcons won't pick until six or seven hours into the draft...or will they.

Word out of Atlanta is that the Falcons front office is spending an inordinate amount of time with Georgia QB D.J. Shockley. The question being posed by Falcons beat writers -- and rightfully so -- is why would a team with no first-round pick and a seeming unwillingness to trade Schaub spend so much time talking to a mid-round QB in the draft.

The reports say that the meeting with Shockley is the fourth such visit, which shows more than just marginal interest. Perhaps the team is more willing to part with Schaub -- whether to the Vikings or to someone else

Falcons need a good backup more than anybody considering what Vick puts himself through every season. If they do decide to depart with Schaub, they better get a great deal for him. Me, I'd forget about the rookie and go for the sure thing unless Schaub wants out of Atlanta that bad.

the thing is poppa, is that he is a UFA next year and the falcons are thinking that with all of the interest in him, that he will want to be a starter and leave them next season and they will get nothing for him. They need to realize that other teams know this and they should lower thier demands if they hope to get anything at all.

Yeah after next year he will be gone no matter what. So ATL better settle for whatever the best offer they get is, or else they will get nothing.

I don't know much about Schaub, I have watched him play a game or two and he was not bad for a back up. K.C. is in need of a back up, I don't know if Schaub would fit the system or not, I don't know What Atl. wants for him but I personally wouldn't give up a day one draft pick, a 4th round maybe but since the Chiefs don't have one that wouldn't work either.

the falcons should keep schuab he is one of the best back up qbs in the leauge and all the runnin micheal vick does u dont no when u r gonna need him

if schaub was to be traded it would have been done already. They wanted to trade him because he is a FA next year and it would have behooved them to get something while they still could have, now that the draft has passed, they prolly won't get squat for him but his services this year may be needed, if vick stays true to his statements about running more are true.
