Receiver Jennings aims to move up
FALCONS REPORT: Receiver Jennings aims to move up | ajc.com
Quote:
Second-year wide receiver Adam Jennings could emerge as the Falcons' No. 5 wide receiver, a spot that opened up earlier this week when Fred Gibson was cut.
"Adam Jennings has given us probably more than I anticipated with his ability to catch the ball," coach Bobby Petrino said. "You know he's going to run with it after he makes the catch. He's done a really nice job of catching the ball and really coming to work hard every day."
Milner adjusting
With Alge Crumpler easing back into action while rehabbing from knee surgery, Petrino is getting a good look at some of the younger tight ends on the roster, including former Georgia standout Martrez Milner. While he's liked what he seen so far from the 6-foot-4, 260-pound rookie, the team is being careful not to overwhelm him with too much information early on in camp.
Petrino said the transition from college to pro tight end is a major challenge since it's a combination of three positions —- fullback, wide receiver and offensive line.
Milner acknowledged the difficult adjustment from Georgia to the NFL.
"Just the whole mental aspect of it all —- in college, I knew everything," he said. "Here, it's a whole different type of level. ... It's such high intensity, I have to get used to it."
Milner said Crumpler has been a good teacher for the other tight ends on the roster —- including Daniel Fells and Dwayne Blakley.
"We all know Alge is the man," he said. "We're just trying to learn from him."
