Q: When you see your QB get into a scrap, what does that do for a team?
A: "Oh man. That was huge. I record the game every week myself, just to go and watch what's going on so I can get a sense of what I can say to my coaches whenever they ask me questions on the defensive side of the ball. But I got a chance to watch that, and man, I rewound that like 10 times.
"Just seeing him get up, not even hit the guy who hit him, but just saw another color and went at him. That's temporary insanity, you know. That guy just went after him. That's what you want to see. I would have have that guy in my foxhole any day. Just get up and go after somebody, you don't see that out of quarterbacks.
"Jon came in this morning and I was teasing him, but hey... it's one of them deals, you know?"
Q: Why is it important for you to see the quarterback do that, because guys do that all the time?
A: "You don't see quarterbacks do that all the time. Quarterbacks always talk tough, you know, 'blah, blah, blah, we gonna do this, we gonna do that.' When his number was called, he stepped up in there and started throwing 'bows.
"That's what you want to see out of any player on the field, not just the quarterback. If somebody roughed-up Hanson, I would look for him to get up and knee somebody in the face, or something.
"That's what you want to see out of everybody who plays football. That nastiness, that toughness, that 'I don't care who you are, or how big you are, or how small, or whatever' if you're going to come test me, then hey, so be it. We're going to throw."
Q: The game was tight at that point. Does it help you guys step up?
A: "That just adds more fuel the fire. We were feeling confident all day. We were holding them on defense, we were giving our offensive side of the ball great field position -- great field position. Our special teams was doing things, we was clicking yesterday. Everything was coming together.
"Like I said, it added more fuel to the fire. Guys saw that, and kind of get everybody 'Hey!' Riled up, and you want to go out there and make plays."
Q: What can the media tell people about your team after coming off a win, facing a team you're favored to beat?
A: "All I can say is, and all I do know is that we're going to go out and practice the same way every week. We're going to go out no matter what the situation is -- Marinelli, Donnie Henderson, Mike Martz throw at us -- we're just going to go, focus, watch our plays, learn their plays, learn what they do, and bottom line continue to do what we do.
"I mean, I've never been somewhere where we worked so much fundamentals. Every day it's fundamentals. Every day. It's like, I'm in my sleep and I'm throwing my arms going through bag drills. We do it every day. The more you do it, the more second nature it is. You don't even think about running through bags, or throwing your hips around. I mean, it just happens. I know for sure we're going to do that next week."
