Falcons looked to add value to the fan relationship with State of the Franchise event
Quote:
The Atlanta Falcons want everyone to know they're different.
First, they reached out to the media in early April, hosting a golf tournament with local and national media members and the team's leadership and coaches.
It was an unheard of event, but one designed to encourage communication and a sense of openness with those charged with covering the team for its fans.
Communication is clearly important to the Falcons.
You hear about Head Coach Mike Smith's ability as a communicator. And the communication between he and General Manager Thomas Dimitroff--a relationship fostered through a love of talent evaluation and a sincere desire to win--the right way.
Team President Rich McKay spent all day on Saturday and much of Sunday this past weekend during the draft on the social networking and micro-blogging site Twitter sharing (or tweeting) his comments and interacting with journalists and fans.
And of course, it's never uncommon for owner Arthur Blank to take out an ad in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, his own personal "tweet," to address the fans.
Communication was what Monday night's State of the Franchise event was all about at the Georgia Dome.
