Falcons sign Verron Hayes

The Associated Press reports Verron Haynes signed with the Falcons as a free agent.
Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
Haynes, a fifth-round pick by the Steelers in 2002, had 738 rushing yards, 429 receiving yards and five total touchdowns in six seasons in Pittsburgh. The North Springs High School graduate and former University of Georgia star last played in the NFL in 2007, but he will compete for a roster spot behind starter Michael Turner and top backup Jerious Norwood in Atlanta.
