When the Ravens brought Steve McNair to Baltimore this past offseason, they knew they were getting a proven winner, a distinguished locker room leader and a stalwart playmaker.
But, his cool accuracy while standing tall in the pocket that has also played a major part in the Ravens' current five-game winning streak.
Maybe it is the fact that head coach Brian Billick took the reins of the offense just over a month ago. Maybe it's the fact that McNair is finally settling in with all of the weapons at his disposal. Whatever it is, completing over 61 percent of his passes in each of the Ravens' last five contests can't be argued with.
"I think week in and week out we're getting better," said the signal-caller after Sunday's 27-0 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. "I think we did well executing today. We had some mishaps, but we overcame that. I think that's the sign of a great team. We've just got to continue to get better week in and week out."
That's just what McNair has done. In the win over the Steelers, the 12-year veteran went 18-of-24 for 140 yards and one touchdown, connecting on an impressive 75 percent of his throws.
Beginning when Billick first called the offensive plays in Week 8 against the New Orleans Saints, McNair has posted completion percentages of 73.9, 67.7, 61.7 and 70.6, finding at least seven different receivers in each game.
