-- Ravens Hope to Sign Grubbs before Training Camp --
Tue Jul 24, 2007 --from FFMastermind.com
The Baltimore Sun reports the Ravens seem to have a solid shot at striking a deal with first round draft pick OG Ben Grubbs before players report to McDaniel College for training camp on Sunday. "It's been very good dialogue," Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome said yesterday of the talks with Grubbs' agent, Pat Dye Jr. One reason for optimism is that San Francisco 49ers OT Joe Staley, the 28th overall pick who was selected just ahead of Grubbs, signed a five-year, $8 million contract (which includes $5.6 million in guaranteed money) on July 16. That should provide a contract framework for Grubbs, the 29th overall pick. Last year, the difference in the deals for the 28th and 29th picks (Jacksonville Jaguars TE Marcedes Lewis and New York Jets C Nick Mangold) was $30,000

Don't save that spot just yet for him. He really hasn't looked good in camp at all.
