you brought up young's size, Smith is a different QB but he doesn't have the skills to pick apart a defense that you think, He makes some good throws, but isn't the answer for Baltimore, maybe Harbaugh won't take a QB in the first, but I am sure that he will take a QB and you don't have to be a first round QB to be successful. I just don't think that Troy Smith is anything to get excited about

I would rather seem them get a veteran QB. THe ravens haven't done well with first pick QB picks (Boller *cough* *cough*). We have a young QB to take over the reigns because he did better than Boller and was a whole lot more comfortable against the Steelers. No oldie QB like McNair but no need for a rookie.
The CB posistion needs major help. isn't it funny how teams eventually had to throw the ball on Ravens even if they didn't want to For example the Seahawks. Their run Defense is unstoppable but on pass plays they get burned deep. I don't give a crap what they say about Chris but he is not good and Rolle is crap. Oh and a O Line would help too!!

We haven't exactly done a great job with QBs we get from other teams either. Anybody remember Elvis Gerbac? Tony Banks? Steve McNair? QBs that play well elsewhere have a tendency to come to Baltimore and rapidly decline.
Anyway, we will more than likely be drafting a QB. I think if we still had Billick he'd stick with the McNair, Boller and Smith and let them duke it out for the starting job, but, as Prof said, Harbough will probably want to take advantage of our unusually high draft pick and get his "Franchise QB".

The only way he wouldn't would be if he doesn't like this years class and picks a project in the later rounds

In my opinion, the first thing that the Ravens should do is address the QB situation. McNair is old and doesn't have much to offer, Boller is still as inconsistent as ever, and Smith, who has shown promise, is way too young to take over. If we do look to the draft for finding a long term QB, then, at our position, we should look at either Matt Ryan or Brian Brohm. Both QB's who have definite potential and have shown promise on the field.

OK listen you just said troy is too young to take over but your willing to draft someone who hasnt played a NFL game yet to take over? I say sit McNair, use him as a coach and get rid of Boller. Smith is the guy you should be getting specific attention too, he wasnt too bad for his debut. Give him a shot , what do you have to lose.
Also CB issue can be taken care of but I think the biggest problem is the Oline. They have some young guys but no one too special. And the good guys are getting old, fast.
So I say draft someone young and powerful with some speed so that Odgen can sitll train him as his own carrer twindles away

If you were to read my post correctly, I said "If, the Ravens were to draft a QB...." Personally, I think that would be a bogus move and I would feel more comfortable with Smith as the QB, but I still have my doubts about his experience. I totally agree with you when it comes to CB's, we have two good CB's in Rolle and McAllister, but neither have played to the Raven's expectations, so drafting a CB in the second or fourth round would be decent. Regarding the O-line, we need to bring in some young players, not necessarliy rookies. "Rookie Mistakes" could be the demise of our O-line.

With the amount of injuries, and Pittman just not stepping up, drafting a CB is looking really good right about now.

I think he does. IMO it's simply a matter that he doesnt play dumb like other more physically gifted QB's do. He has enough arm to make the deep throw's, and he is accurate enough to WR's in stride on crossing patterens. He may not have the "measurable" like Ryan Leaf, Tim Couch, Akili Smith and other great combine QB's, but he is a much smarter QB IMO
