Two Ravens AWOL from camp
Baltimore Sun
Posted: Saturday May 10, 2008 08:38AM ET
Two big-time members of the Ravens failed to show for the team's mandatory minicamp today -- offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden and outside linebacker Terrell Suggs. Ogden's absence was expected, but Suggs wasn't on the field because of a contract dispute. The 25-year-old Suggs, who showed up for earlier team practices to show his support for new coach John Harbaugh but couldn't practice because he hasn't signed his one-year contract, wasn't with the team when it took to the field this afternoon in the rain.

I think Ogden is leaning towards retirement.

yeh me too, supposedly last season he came back because one of his closest friends on the line came back and they had each other to push off of in camp and this year Ogden's budy is not there so he may just call it a career

Isn't Suggs skipping out on the camps because he is still fight which franchise tag he is supposed to get, if he isn't then what happened with that.

No he's angry because of the tag he got. He got the tag for Linebacker when he was getting paid Defense End money.

I can see where that would do it, thats a bigtime difference.
Its BS, I diont think Baltimore runs a base 3-4, I think they primarily run a 4-3, with alot of 3-4 sub-packages

Yeah All of their linebackers are really too small to run a 3-4 anyways, they just started running it this year though. Plus Terrell is a serious player and they should just offer him some more money he's a force.

He has to have played more than 50% of the snaps at DE for him to get the extra 814,000. Suggs filed a grievance and they basically have to go through the games tapes to determine what % of the snaps he took at DE.

An arbitration hearing has not been scheduled, but newsome said this
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slu...v=ap&type=lgns
“Well, in our defense, Terrell has always been an outside linebacker, was drafted as an outside linebacker and that’s why he was designated as such,” Newsome said.
Newsome added that Suggs was twice voted to the Pro Bowl as a linebacker and plays linebacker in the team’s base defense.

Eh, just give him the extra 814,000 it's pretty much just a drop in the bucket.
