Where Michael Vick couldn't find anywhere to run, the Ravens certainly did, as the Atlanta Falcons fell to Baltimore 24-10 Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium.
In front of a crowd that was 70,790 strong, Jamal Lewis scored three rushing touchdowns and B.J. Sams totaled 212 return yards on six attempts, helping the Ravens (8-2) rally from a 7-0 deficit and strengthen their stranglehold on the AFC North.
On the other hand, the Ravens' defense held the fleet-footed Vick to 54 yards on the ground, and most importantly, out of the end zone.
Sams was a catalyst in a third-quarter offensive awakening. The return specialist set up two of Lewis' scores, zig-zagging his way through grasping defenders to take a punt and a kickoff 59 yards each.
He added a 65-yard punt return in the closing seconds of the first half en route to the third-most punt return yards (121) in a game by a single player in Ravens franchise history. It was fitting, then, that Sams would walk out of the locker room with the game ball from head coach Brian Billick.
