Ravens Ravens want right price for Boldin

Quote:
Jamison Hensley of the Baltimore Sun reports the Ravens are "unlikely" to trade for wide receiver Anquan Boldin if the Arizona Cardinals don't lower their asking price, a team source said Monday.

The Cardinals are looking for first- and third-round picks in exchange for Boldin, according to the source. The Ravens would consider the trade if they only had to give up a first-round pick or a second-round pick and a player, the source said.

I'm sure there are a lot of teams that would love to have Boldin if the price was lower. I have a feeling the Cardinals set the price where they did because they know there won't be many takers. They want to keep Boldin. This way they can say they listened to offers but there weren't any. And if some team does decide to give up a 1st and 3rd, then at least the Cards get well compensated for someone they'd rather keep.

I don't see the big deal of giving up a first and third if you are in the latter part of the first round. For a WR that is proven and could really help out your young QB it is worth it IMO>

I agree with you about a proven player maybe being worth it. I think that Boldin's desire to make $10 million/year definitely plays into things, though. A team later in the first round can likely get a young, big WR in this draft that is unproven, yes, but has fresh legs and - more importantly - won't cost them $10 million/year. Not that Boldin is old or worn out by any means, but his contract price might deter teams that already think giving up those two picks is a lot to pay.

I think he will take less money just to get out of there and be the number 1 option on another team. I don't see that he wants that kind of money from another team but just from the Cardinals. Of course this is just my opinion. He should be happy to make 7-8 mil a year and be the number one option on a team that has shown they are consistent contenders like the Ravens.
