(Vancouver) Riding an eight-game winning streak into the CFL's second season including a sweep of October games and a lone November tilt has earned Geroy Simon, Ryan Phillips and Jason Clermont three of four Rogers CFL Players of the Month awards for October.
Simon earned Offensive Player of the Month honours with 24 receptions for 523 yards and four touchdowns over a five game stretch which included a 142-yard performance in Hamilton on October 26 and a 211-yard explosion versus Calgary last Saturday.
Phillips picks up the Defensive Player of the Month nod after snagging three interceptions over the final five games and in the process, tied the Lions' team record for interceptions in a season with 12. Phillips also established the third-best interception return yardage total in CFL history with 299 on the season.
Clermont gets the Canadian of the Month award with his 28 receptions for 473 yards and two TD's including a 173-yard performance at Edmonton on October 13 and a 152-yard performance in Hamilton on October 26. The fourth-year Lion also set a career best with his 86th reception on the season last week.
