'BC Lions Day' proclaimed by Vancouver Mayor Sam Sullivan
BC Lions playoff excitement reached mayoral proportions today as Vancouver Mayor Sam Sullivan declared that Sunday, November 18th will be 'BC Lions Day' in Vancouver.
With Lions president and CEO, Bob Ackles on hand to accept the honours at City Hall this morning, the club kicked off a weeklong campaign to rally support behind the team's effort to return to the Grey Cup again this year and retain their CFL crown.
Reading in part, "...Whereas the BC Lions established an all time team franchise record by winning 14 regular season games this season and finished in first place in the West Division for the fourth consecutive year with a 14-3-1 record," the proclamation recognized the club's efforts in the community as well as on-field success in 2007.
"We are very excited to be recognized by Mayor Sam Sullivan, members of council and the citizens of Vancouver," said Ackles. "Our players, coaches and staff are prepared to do our part to make this city and province proud."
The BC Lions host the 2007 West Final on Sunday, November 18th with kickoff at 1:30 pm. For more information on the BC Lions Football Club, please visit our website at bclions.com.
