Originally posted by snippet GM Marv Levy continued his “Old School” makeover of the Buffalo Bills in the NFL draft over the weekend with some unexpected moves that shocked the draft “gurus” and left many Bills fans, accustomed to the high-profile, “value system” approach to drafting that has been in vogue around the NFL in recent years, wondering if Levy really is as senile and out of touch as some in the media have dismissively portrayed him.
an interesting point from a person on another board:
Quote:
I was talking to a fellow media friend of mine over lunch just yesterday and was told that he heard the Giants moved down in the first round because they figured their target John McCargo would still be on the board. The Giants had no idea that the Bills would move back into the first round to take McCargo before it was their turn to pick. The Giants then attempted to trade down again, but their were no takers so they went with the best prospect on their board (Kiwanuka) with that pick. The rest of their draft supposedly went as planned and Accorsi was very happy that they were still able to draft Sinorice Moss in the second round.
Even though I thought Whitner and McCargo were huge reaches and bad picks, I do not feel that they are bad players, and they very well could turn out to be good picks.

The pick (Whitner) reminded me of when the Bengals selected Levi Jones at like #10 overall but people said that was a little too high for him, he should've gone around #16. I think Tom Jackson or somebody said that's why the Bengals are the Bengals, amking picks like this. He turned out to be a better value than 4 or 5 guys drafted ahead of him.
Whitner could be a solid player for the Bills for many years. We'll have to wait and see.
