Free agent Bryant Johnson knows all about the Buffalo Bills' need for a big wide receiver to play opposite Lee Evans.
Owner Ralph Wilson has talked about it and so has coach Dick Jauron.
“Yes, that's something that I've heard and is the reason why I'm here,’’ the 6-3 Johnson told reporters today after visiting with coaches and front office staff at One Bills Drive.
Johnson, who has plans to visit other teams, including the Washington Redskins, said he wouldn’t mind if those plans got canceled after liking what he saw and heard in Buffalo. He said his agent would speak with Bills officials about a potential contract.
“I definitely think I fit in good with the Bills,’’ Johnson said. “Hopefully I won't have to take any more visits after I leave here. My agent is going to talk with them (the Bills) and hopefully we can work something out and make both of us happy.’’
Johnson, a five-year veteran, has 210 career catches for 2,675 yards and nine touchdowns. A first-round pick out of Penn State in 2003, he has played third fiddle to Pro Bowlers Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald with the Cardinals and is looking for a team where he can play a bigger role.
“I'm definitely eager to get more opportunities to show my ability and I definitely think this is a good place to do so,’’ Johnson said.
