Steve Smith
I don't know of any reciever that means so much to thier team then Steve does. When Steve is healthy this team is picked to make it to superbowl. When this guy is injured this team is horrendous.
IMO this makes him one of the best reciever's in NFL just because his value to his team. The whole offense is revolved around him and he consistently makes plays.
If you take Chad Johnson away from Bengals. I think Bengals can still make playoffs.
T.O. and Randy Moss might be the most physically dominating Recievers in the league, but Steve's value to his team is unmatched.

I can't argue with that, the Panthers do seem to excell when Smith is on the field. However, Keyshawn Johnson is proving to be a more valuable member of the team. He was Carolina's MVP last week and earned it:
Keyshawn Johnson #19 (WR): 7 Rec (97 yds, 1 TD), 1 Rush (4 yds, 1 TD)
Hopefully, Carolina will have learned that they need to improve without Smith. It is just that simple. For a team to be so reliant upon one member... very bad for business.

Well said KWR.
Now,if we would have a RB the same caliber as SSmith we would make it to the SB easily.

only because Ds are focusing on Steve Smith and it opens everything up for everyone else, just like Reggie Bush is doin for the Saints.

If Jake Delhomme wasn't so overrated the Panthers would do alot better. They can't win without Smith because Smith is the only reason Jake can be considered decent. Smith makes amazing plays and reallly is the Panthers whole offense. The Panthers running game isn't scary so Smith makes up for that. Without Smith the Panthers aren't going anywhere.

I think its more mind over matter. They don't play as well, b/c they feel they can't function without him. They're a good team and playoff hopefuls, but with him they are even better. I dare say even SuperBowl bound. They shouldn't be 1-2, the Panthers could have utilized Keyshawn more.

Any team that can only win when there star plays is a team that deserves to be 2-1. When any team loses a star it is going to hurt but the Panthers are just horrible when Smith doesn't play.

I don't think anybody considers Jake to be all that great. He is just a good fit for the panthers offense.
