Morgan out for the season
Charlotte Observer | 11/07/2007 | Morgan out for the season
Quote:
The Carolina Panthers placed middle linebacker Dan Morgan on injured reserve Tuesday, ending his season.
Carolina also signed quarterback Drew Olson to the practice squad and promoted fullback Billy Latsko to the roster to take Morgan's place.
Morgan had not played since Week 3 because of an Achilles tendon injury.
"It's obviously disappointing and frustrating for Dan, and it's disappointing for us, too," Panthers general manager Marty Hurney said. "He tried to rehabilitate it for six weeks with no significant improvement, so he decided to undergo surgery."
Hurney said Morgan, 28, will have surgery as early as this week and certainly within the next two weeks.
Carolina moved rookie Jon Beason, a first-round draft choice in April, from weakside to middle linebacker Oct. 7 at New Orleans, and he has played remarkably well. Beason leads the team in tackles. His weakside spot was taken by veteran Na'il Diggs, giving the Panthers a solid group at the position.
Morgan, the team's third-leading career tackler, missed virtually all of last season with concussion-related problems. By the end of this season, he will have played in 59 of 112 regular-season games in his seven seasons with the Panthers. He's played in four over the past two seasons.
Morgan's contract, which runs through 2010, was restructured this year to make it more salary-cap friendly

Maybe this is gods way of keeping out since hes too stupid from the concussions to retire.
