Ive heard rumors that they agreed not to franchise him again after the season like other players have done before.

Just because Briggs didn't sign with the Bears until now didn't mean he was off/cut from the team. Though many said he was gone from the Bears. WTF?

Well if they cant franchise then he is as good as gone after next season if they dont pony up the cash.

Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reports that Briggs will sign his tender and report to camp a day or two late, due to a prior commitment. Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that the Bears will not apply the franchise tag to Briggs if he plays in at least 75 percent of the defensive snaps this season.
