Brown leaves Bourbonnais a happy camper

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – On the first day of training camp, Alex Brown expressed his displeasure about losing his starting job to Mark Anderson. But the veteran defensive end was humming a much happier tune as he prepared to break camp with the rest of his teammates.
“You know what? I’m fine,” Brown said. “We’ve got a great team here. We’ll all play. The coaches have shown that we’ll all play. I want to win the Super Bowl. I don’t want to go anywhere else because I don’t think there’s another team out there who can beat us.”
Bears veteran defensive end Alex Brown recorded a career-high seven sacks last season.
Though he’s listed second on the depth chart at right defensive end, Brown is expected to be part of a three-man rotation, subbing for both Anderson and left defensive end Adewale Ogunleye.
Brown is proud of his 64-game starting streak, the second-longest on the team behind only center Olin Kreutz (70). But even though that likely will come to an end when the Bears open the season Sept. 9 in San Diego, the former Florida star wants to win a ring above all else.
“I think we’d have to stop ourselves,” he said. “At every position we have somebody who can totally take over a game and dominate—that’s offense, defense and special teams. So we’ve got a chance. There are just some things we can’t control and that’s injuries, but we’ve been fortunate to get out of training camp without any injuries.”
