Bears Release Doug Brien; Sign Steve Edwards
BEARS RELEASE DOUG BRIEN; SIGN STEVE EDWARDS
The Chicago Bears released kicker Doug Brien today and signed offensive lineman Steve Edwards to a two-year contract today.
Edwards is a veteran of 32 games played and 24 starts with the Bears from 2002-04. The Chicago native started a career-high 16 games at left guard for the Bears in 2003 and split eight starts between both guard positions in 2004. Edwards was waived by Chicago on Sept. 4.
Brien signed with Chicago on May 12 and converted 1-of-4 field goals over the first three games of the season.
