Default Risky business for Briggs

Brenda Briggs wouldn't call her son nervous, but he couldn't stay in one place. While the Bears appeared to be hammering out a long-term contract agreement with agent Drew Rosenhaus in April, Pro Bowl linebacker Lance Briggs was shuttling back and forth between his mother's home in Elk Grove, Calif., and Arizona, where he went to college -- working out and awaiting word.

It was the weekend before the draft, and the Bears were bracing for a big announcement, figuring they were close to ensuring they would have one of the NFL's best linebacking corps for years to come with Briggs next to Brian Urlacher.

Briggs deserves a new contract. He is a beast and the Bears need to lock him up now!

i was thinking the exact same thing. They didn't get the job done with Colvin and now we is winning super bowls with someone else. I think Briggs is even better than Colvin they need to act fast and lock him up.

The real problem here is Drew Rosenhaus... The Bears offered him an EXCELLENT contract extension, but as is typical with Drew he is overbetting his draw.

I do believe that Briggs is a huge part of this defense though and if they can't work it out, it wouldn't help the Bears cause.

Everyone brings up Rosie Colvin like he's some stud with New England. He's not. Sure, the biggest thing is he had a career threatening injury and hasn't been the same player since. And you could say, if it wasn't for the injury etc... The fact remains though isn't the impact player he was so people need to quit using this as an example.

The Bears over the last 5 years have been very aggressive signing their players to extension. I thought their offer to Briggs is fair and maybe the Bears can up it to 35 Million, but there is no way he will get the 40 mill Rosenhaus thinks he can get...

I'm no Bears apologist and will be the first to slap them around when I see fit, but I'm sick of this dopey agent pulling this crap...

Colvin was a beast when he played for the Bears, and he won the SB before the injury... so NOW he's not a stud, but before...no doubt.

Rosenhaus is also Thomas Jones' agent... so what does that tell you?

Yep, Colvin was a stud! But he didn't get hurt after the Superbowl. He got hurt that first year in training camp...

I think it's a hands down agreement the the Bears should keep Briggs. Briggs,Tank and Urlacker.
It's also a well known fact that Lovie needs to get his head OUT OF THE SHADE and announce Griese as #1.JMO
