Default Griese a bit cryptic on QB talk

Brian Griese refused to fan the flames of quarterback controversy, but said just enough to keep the coals warm.

Perhaps it was what he didn't say that suggested a hint of controversy.

Asked Tuesday about the possibility a quarterback controversy could divide a team, Griese said, "It's only a problem if the best guy isn't playing."

So does Griese think he's better than Rex Grossman?

He's handleing the situation perfectly, starting a qb controversy is not going to help him win the starting job.

I certainly hope he thinks he's better than Grossman. If he thinks he's not I wouldn't want him on the team. You need your backup QB to be confident... Like MickeyG said, he's handling it perfectly. He fully understands the situation he's in that the Bears are in and will be ready if and when needed.

As much as we don't know about Grossman, for the first time in years I think the Bears are in the best QB shape than ever. If Grossman spits the bit, I have all the confidence in Griese. But as usual in Chicago it has to be controversy... People love to jump the gun and I can't blame them.

At least there is a backup plan for once!

He knows that he's better than Grossman, you can tell by the way he plays on and off the field. But in order to stay on the team and be a productive member, he knows he needs to be a team player. I just hope that a little bit of that intelligence and experience rubs off on Rex.

Everybody knows Griese is better than Grossman.
That just shows how expierienced he is. He darn well knows better than to go spouting off like a TO. Best way to get the boot not the job. I just hope it's not too late in the season for the Bears till he starts.
