LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Unlike baseball, there’s no such thing as a perfect game in football. So even after their resounding 26-0 season-opening win over the Packers, the Bears still have room to improve.
In preparing for Sunday’s home opener against the Detroit Lions, Chicago coaches are hoping for better results from the red zone offense and the run defense in particular.
The Bears scored a touchdown on Bernard Berrian's 49-yard reception but failed to get into the end zone on four trips inside Green Bay's 20-yard line in Sunday's victory.
While the Bears took a 16-0 halftime lead in Green Bay by scoring on four of five possessions and compiling 236 total yards in the first two quarters, they feel like they left some points on the field.
Chicago failed to score any touchdowns on four trips inside the 20, settling for three Robbie Gould field goals and turning the ball over on a Rex Grossman interception.
