Benson still adjusting to different role

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Football has never been a spectator sport for Bears running back Cedric Benson, who averaged over 22 carries per game during an illustrious college career at Texas.

So it’s understandable that waiting until the second half to buckle up his chin strap as he did again in last Sunday’s win over Green Bay just may take some getting used to.

“I’m still trying to figure that out,” Benson said. “It’s real new to me and I think one of the most challenging things for me going into a game is being ready to play and not playing, kind of just sitting around waiting. I still haven’t figured that out.”

Benson stepped on the field for the first time against the Packers with 6:59 left in the third quarter and proceeded to rush for 34 yards on 11 carries. The fourth overall pick in the 2005 draft gained 272 yards on 67 attempts in nine games as a rookie.

I like him, I want him to play... but I'm suspect of his durability...

this is the whole griese/grossman argument all over again...

Yea IP, He's very eager to play and I think he can be very good. Jones is the man though but not impressive against the Pack. Let me guess you like the #2 guy here and I like the #1. Ya know like Grossman/Griese

I agree some what(can't believe I said that)but the way I see it expierience come with age. Kind of like me. Me and Griese are like a bottle of wine we keep getting better with age. Unlike Grossman where you keep changing his diapers and hope he grows out of the bad habbit soon
