Default Bears Overall Game Summary

Red-hot Grossman passes Bears to 2-0 start
By Larry Mayer

CHICAGO – One of quarterback Rex Grossman’s primary goals this season was to lift the passing game onto equal footing with the Bears’ top-10 defense and running game.

The 2003 first-round draft pick more than accomplished that objective in Sunday’s home opener, completing 20 of 27 passes for 289 yards and four touchdowns to propel the Bears to a 34-7 victory over the Detroit Lions at Soldier Field.

Tight end John Gilmore celebrates one of his two TD receptions in Sunday's 34-7 victory over the Lions with teammate Muhsin Muhammad.
“We went after them a little bit and it felt really good to put up some points,” Grossman said. “Thirty-four points is a pretty good performance. Anytime we do that we’re going to win, but anytime our defense keeps any team to seven points we think we’re going to win as well."

One week after crushing the Packers 26-0 in Green Bay, the Bears took a commanding 24-0 halftime lead and cruised to their second straight lopsided victory.

“Everything seemed to work today," Grossman said. "Our offensive line did a great job giving me time. (Coordinator) Ron Turner put me in a lot of good situations and then we were able to capitalize once we were in those situations. So it was a total team effort and that’s always the most fun to see.”

I missed the first few minutes then turned it on and 7-0 already. Few minutes later Lions fumble again then 10-0. Went outside to get the ladder and leaf blower to clean the gutters before the rain, came back in to check the game and 17-0. Went back out to cleaned the gutters came back in and 24-0. Went to the clubs annual picnic and ate brats and finished watching the massacre.

The Bears do look very good and there D is tough as usual, but I wanna see them play a real team now...next week they will get another semi easy win and go to 3-0, then they get seattle who is looking unimpressive. There first real test looks to be in week 10 at the Giants. With their schedule, they should do 13-3

How is Seattle 13-3 last year(they were in the SB also)a weak team now? And the Giants a better team? 11-5 last year.

Do you watch football every week or just go by what you think? Seattle barely beat Detroit and there offense was poor today against the Cardinals defense who isnt very good. The Giants should have beat the Colts and had an impressive comeback win today at the Eagles.

Well going by your philosophy. The Giants barely beat the Eagles just like the Seahawks barely beat the Lions. Also the Seahawks didn't play as good as they should have against the Cards. Just like the Giants didn't play as good as they should have against the Colts.
Bottom line......no matter who the Bears play someone will downplay the quality of the teams they beat. Example already give but here's a simple term. The Seahawks aren't playing up to your expectations so that means their lousy already.

Wow are you pathetic....lose too many brain cells from weed or something?? The Giants were down 24-7 to a good Eagles team and came back to win- pretty impressive. The Giants played good enough to beat the Colts but didnt execute- Peyton should have had 3-4 ints but the Giants defenders forgot how to catch.
And how can you compare the Eagles to the lions?? Seahawks being NFC champs and in the SB last year should have killed the horrible lions but didnt. On the other hand the Eagles and Giants are good teams so it should have been a close game.

Bottom line is Bears will get a bye in the playoffs and lose their first game to be sent home...remember last year when the Panthers torched their amazing D. Obviously you need an offense to win too.

Two things. First, the Giants defense didn`t forget how to catch in the Colts game. They never knew how to catch in the first place. Second, the Lions were stupid close to putting up 56 against the Bears. From what I`ve seen, no defense can stop them. Cough.
