LAKE FOREST, Ill. – With two long touchdown receptions in as many games, Bernard Berrian has turned a question mark on the Bears offense into an exclamation point.
One week after his 49-yard TD helped propel the Bears to a 26-0 win at Green Bay, the third-year receiver scored on a sensational 41-yard catch in Sunday’s 34-7 rout of the Detroit Lions.
Bernard Berrian hauls in a 41-yard TD pass from Rex Grossman in Sunday's 34-7 win over the Lions.
“We talked a lot about the second receiver stepping up,” said coach Lovie Smith. “Two games and both times he’s stepped up.”
Berrian had a career-high five receptions for 89 yards against the Lions, highlighted by a tumbling touchdown grab in the right corner of the end zone that gave the Bears a 17-0 lead early in the second quarter.
