Default A small break? Not for Bears

With own ground game dicey, Alexander injury plays into their hands

By John Mullin
Tribune staff reporter
Published September 26, 2006

The day after impressive wins by the Bears and the Seattle Seahawks, both found themselves with significant questions on offense going into Sunday night's meeting of 3-0 teams at Soldier Field.

Seattle's was the more serious: Tailback and league MVP Shaun Alexander was diagnosed with a fractured bone in his left foot and is expected to miss at least a month.

"You lose the MVP for a while, it's a hit," Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren said. "Let's face it, he's the MVP. We're not going to sugarcoat it."
