Default Grossman Offensive Player Of Month

Grossman named NFC Offensive Player of Month
By Larry Mayer

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Having revived the passing game while leading the Bears to a 3-0 start, quarterback Rex Grossman on Thursday was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Month for September.

The former Florida star has operated the offense with maximum efficiency so far in 2006 after missing significant portions of his first three NFL seasons with well-documented injuries.

Rex Grossman leads the NFL with an average of 8.8 yards per pass attempt.
While improving his regular-season record as a starter to 7-3, Grossman leads the NFL with an average of 8.8 yards per attempt, is tied for third with a career-high six TD passes and ranks fifth with 829 passing yards and a 100.9 passer rating.

“It just shows that we’re off to a good start as an offense,” Grossman said. “I think that’s pretty much a team award when your quarterback wins something like that. A lot of guys have been playing well and have stepped it up, (offensive coordinator) Ron Turner included. I’m happy about it, but I think our offense should be just as happy.”

as long as he faces scrub defenses, he'll still put up the numbers.

I have no faith myself, although he is the best QB they have had in a while, I don't think he is as good as he has looked in the first 3 games.

I think it will go a long way as far as establishing himself tho. Its better he puts up good #s against bad teams early, than to have him play tough teams and have him struggle. This way he is going into that Seattle game with confidence, and the confidence of his teammates.

My theory is that Rex should do well, considering the fact that he's basically played coach for his first couple of seasons, watching from the sidelines, observing mistakes, seeing what the coaches see, learning the game from the outside in. A lot of of young QBs just get thrown into the mix, and they make mistakes and eventually get thrown to the side. I think this approach will benefit Grossman immensely, and let him know what needs to be done to get it going. As long as he can stay healthy, he'll do well. I also think that would be the best approach with VY... let Collins get pounded on with that horrible OL, and let VY learn.
