The main difference is

Hunter Hillenmeyer will get top Dollar from the bears
Lance Briggs will get top dollar from the open market [/b]

I hope you're wrong about Briggs, I'm still hoping Briggs comes to his senses before the camp starts.

Where did you see that ?

I just read both articles, twice, and saw no mention of money.

Either way, it doesn't matter. If he got $5M to sign then all he is guaranteed to get is $5M over 5 years......that's nothing.

maybe the Bears should learn how to pay market value on thier All Pro OLB. Now Garza, St. Claire and Hunter Hillenmeyer have stolen money from Lance Briggs and Thomas Jones. This is absolute horse****, were ****ing doomed under Angelo.

Bears re-sign starting linebacker HillenmeyerESPN.com news services

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- The Chicago Bears on Thursday signed starting strongside linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer to a five-year contract extension.

Hillenmeyer

ESPN.com's John Clayton reports that the deal includes a $5 million signing bonus.

Hillenmeyer was eligible to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2006 season. This contract locks him up through 2011.

Overshadowed on a defense which features Pro Bowl middle linebacker Brian Urlacher and pass-rushing ends Adewale Ogunleye and Alex Brown, Hillenmeyer ranks as the Bears' third-leading tackler over the last two seasons with 161.

Originally a fifth-round pick of Green Bay in 2003, Hillenmeyer signed with the Bears after being waived by the Packers. He emerged as a starter in 2004, recording 90 tackles, 2½ sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Hillenmeyer had 71 tackles, one sack and one interception last season.

Information from SportsTicker was used in this report.

Doomed huh? If both of those guys show up for camp and have good years the Bears will be hardly doomed. You don't know what will happen and until they're not in Bear uniforms I'll remain optimistic. Angelo is doing fine.

I do know what will happen. Briggs and Jones will leave and this team will start from square one again.

How did they steal money from Jones and Briggs ?

Did they put guns to their heads and forcew them to not sign new contracts ?

Did they put a gun to JA's head and force him to not offer new deals ?

Just because Jones and Briggs think they are worth top dollar, doesn't mean that they are.
