Every year, he comes out on fire the first few games, then suffers his regular mid-season injury and never comes back 100%. The games after his bruised ribs last year, he was definitely not the same.

Maybe it is just me though. I like the tailbacks that will proudly and confidently run full speed into a linebacker and drive their legs for an extra 4 yards or even an extra inch. Cedric Benson is my kind of tailback. Thomas Jones is more of a quicker, elusive type of player. Not many tailbacks that weigh 225 pounds are as finesse as he is when running the football. He lacks power and toughness that are a must-have for a tailabck, IMO.

I would say that the one thing that Jones does not lack is toughness. He might not have the power that Benson (presumably) has, but whatever you want to say about Jones' bruised ribs it was still Benson that missed games last year, not Jones.

The coaches practically had to drag Benson on the field by his shirttail to play in the final Minnasota game.

Afterwards, he said he felt good running out there, but he did not want to be out there. I'd rather have a tough runningback, and so far Benson has not proved to me that he is anything but a prima donna whiner and a smacktalker.
